Dr. Isra Kahn, Provisional Psychologist

Hi, I am Dr. Isra Kahn, a Provisional Psychologist here at the North Shore CBT Centre, offering both psychological assessments and counselling. I have completed my doctoral training and am working under the supervision of Dr. Susan Rai, Psych while pursuing licensing by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC. .

I provide a range of psychological assessments for youth (6+) and adults. My assessment approach emphasizes working collaboratively to understand each client’s unique strengths, needs, and challenges, and offering practical recommendations that support personal growth, well-being, and everyday functioning. I offer the following types of assessments:

  • ADHD Assessment

  • Psycho-Educational Assessment

  • Psycho-Diagnostic Assessment

  • Cognitive & Adaptive Assessment

  • Personal Exploration Assessment

I also offer therapy for youth (14+) and adults experiencing a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, substance use, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, trauma, and major life transitions. I also have an interest in supporting clients navigating work-related challenges, such as career changes, work-life balance, and burnout, as well as adjustments to disability or injury, including traumatic brain injury. I recognize how these experiences can affect daily functioning, relationships, and self-identity.

I see therapy as an opportunity for healing, self-discovery, and growth. It offers a space to explore our experiences with curiosity and compassion, including the parts of ourselves we embrace, struggle to accept, or are still learning to understand. I believe that developing a deeper understanding of ourselves can help us recognize what matters to us and what brings meaning and fulfillment to our lives. From there, we can begin to make intentional choices that bring us closer to the life we want to live. My goal is to support clients in this process and to explore practical skills for navigating and coping with life’s challenges. My hope is to help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, approach yourself with greater compassion, and find ways to move forward that feel right for you.

The evidence-based modalities that I primarily use in therapy are:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy for Trauma (CPT)

  • Mindfulness Approaches
