Dr. Jasmine Irani, RPsych
Registered Psychologist #2913
Pronouns: She/Her
I have a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and am a Registered Psychologist in BC. At the North Shore CBT Centre, I provide psychological assessment and counselling services, with both in person and online options..
I gravitated towards conducting assessments to help client's gain a better understanding of themselves and to help client's advocate for services and provisions. I provide psycho-educational assessments for children (7+), youth, and adults, to determine individual learning styles, highlight strengths and weaknesses, and provide recommendations to help in educational settings. I also offer psycho-diagnostic assessments to help clients gain a better understanding of their symptoms and to provide treatment recommendations. Psycho-diagnostic assessment can help to better understand difficulties with anxiety, mood, executive functioning, and personality.
For counselling, I enjoy working with adults (18+) from a strength-based and person-centred lens. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space where culturally diverse clients can openly share their inner experiences. I assist (with the use of therapeutic skills and strategies) in processing these experiences collaboratively, so that it is helpful and authentic to the individual client and facilitate a deeper understanding of themselves. I also believe in providing psycho-education and a rationale behind the strategies I provide in session. I have a passion for counselling clients experiencing anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, and cultural adjustment. I particularly enjoy helping clients overcome specific phobias and learn to manage anger. I believe in grounding my therapy skills and techniques in research, and I utilize the following evidence-based modalities:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Inference Based CBT for OCD (I-CBT)
Solution Focused Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Strategies
Person-Centred Therapy
I enjoy travelling, trying new restaurants, comedy shows, reading, painting, and singing when I am not working.
I offer session in English and Hindi.
