Heidi Barker, RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with over 25 years of experience. I enjoy working with adults (18+) with a wide range of mental health concerns and challenges, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, overcoming unhelpful habits, life stage transitions, career changes, and relationship difficulties. Having lived, worked, and studied in both Canada and the UK, I bring a broad, culturally informed perspective to my practice.

My work focuses on supporting individuals as they navigate life’s many stages and challenges—some anticipated and chosen, others unexpected and difficult to make sense of. I have a particular interest in helping people move through transitions, relationship conflicts, and patterns of behaviour that may feel stuck or misaligned with their values. I aim to support clients in reconnecting with themselves, building resilience, and finding clarity about the next steps in their lives.

I offer a collaborative, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients can safely explore their experiences. I have experience working with a wide range of identities and ways of being, and I strive to create an inclusive environment where each person feels understood and respected.

My approach integrates evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and Motivational Interviewing. In addition, my background in humanistic and existential psychotherapy can inform a deeper exploration of meaning, belief systems, and spirituality. I also draw from trauma-informed and attachment-based perspectives to understand how past experiences shape present patterns.

Alongside insight-oriented work, I offer a practical and pragmatic approach—supporting clients to develop tools, build resilience, and make meaningful, sustainable changes. Together, we work to navigate adversity, deepen relationships, and create a more balanced and fulfilling life.
