Cindy Strydom, MA, RCC
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia with over 17 years of experience helping youth (14+), adults, and couples navigate life's challenges. I believe that every individual possesses the capacity to overcome difficulties and foster personal growth. My role is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you feel understood, empowered, and equipped with practical tools to create lasting change.

I work with a wide range of concerns but have a particular passion for supporting individuals healing from trauma, navigating bipolar disorder and mood disorders, and managing perinatal challenges and parenting challenges. I also work with anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem difficulties, relationship concerns, and major life transitions.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based therapies. My primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and life experiences while developing practical skills that support meaningful and sustainable change. I also draw from Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and goals.

Having immigrated from South Africa to Vancouver with my family, I have personally experienced the challenges and opportunities that come with major life transitions. Building a new life in a different country while raising a young child has deepened my appreciation for resilience, adaptability, and the importance of support during times of change. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of transitions, identity shifts, parenting, and creating a sense of belonging in a new chapter of life.

Clients often describe me as warm, compassionate, and practical. My goal is not only to help you feel better, but to help you better understand yourself and develop skills that continue to support you long after therapy has ended.

I offer online counselling sessions and provide services in both English and Afrikaans.
