Lena Selitser, BA (Hons)
Doctoral Student - Therapy Practicum
Hello, my name is Lena! I’m a third-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Adler University in Vancouver. I will be completing an intervention practicum at the North Shore CBT Centre, offering reduced cost counselling under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Campbell.
I’m drawn to this work because I believe deeply in people’s capacity for growth, especially when they feel seen, heard, and supported. My approach is rooted in Adlerian principles: I aim to understand each person within the context of their lived experiences, relationships, and values. I also integrate tools from cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness-based strategies to support meaningful, lasting change. I enjoy working with both youth (7+) and adults facing challenges with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationships. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe to explore their challenges and reconnect with their strengths.
My current research focuses on community mental health and suicide prevention. My dissertation examines suicide risk in ski resort towns, with the aim of informing population-specific approaches to care.
Outside of my clinical and academic work, I find restoration in the outdoors. When I'm not in the office, you can probably find me snowboarding in the winter and hiking in the summer!
