Isabel Ruediger, MC, RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor accepting new youth (12+) and adult clients for in person and online counselling. I believe that counselling is a collaborative process between therapist and client with the goal of learning new thinking and behavior patterns to cope with challenges that may be encountered at different phases of our lives.
My approach is empathetic, open-minded, and attuned to what you share with me. The treatment modalities I draw from in therapy are evidence-based in working with clients who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or grief. My main modalities are:
Cognitiive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Having completed a long-term career in the First Responder community as a firefighter I have a vested interest in continuing to work in a helping capacity with people’s well-being. My experiences of witnessing the effects of trauma exposure and organizational stress inform my focus of working with clients who have been exposed to these type of events. I also believe that work/home transitions can be challenging and learning new cognitive and behavioral patterns have the potential to alleviate these stressors.
When I am not working, I am an outdoor enthusiast that reaps the benefits our beautiful province has to offer, particularly hiking and mountain biking. I have also been married for many years and am a proud mom of two children. Our household includes a beloved dog and cat.
Aside from English I also speak fluent German.
