Dr. Villeena Villantheran
Welcome to my profile! My name is Villeena and I am a Doctoral Clinician. I provide in-person and online psychological assessment and treatment for youth (12+) and adults under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Campbell, RPsych.
Originally from Malaysia, I moved here in 2017 to pursue my doctoral studies. Growing up in a multicultural country has helped me understand that issues related to intersectionality can significantly impact mental health, and I am here to help. My clinical training and experience will help me support you with anxiety, trauma, depression, ADHD, interpersonal difficulties, gender identity, sexual identity, and disordered eating.
In therapy, my focus is on building a strong relationship with you by providing a safe and non-judgmental space for your thoughts and emotions. I believe that collaboration is an important part of therapy, which means that you and I will work as a team to identify and develop strategies to reach your personal goals. Our work together will involve exploring your values and inner resources so you can continue to draw on them as you navigate life’s challenges. I also value being authentic with my clients, so expect to have a healthy dose of humour and fun when working together!
My background and experience have helped me learn to appreciate diversity and the unique experiences of each individual I work with. I believe in tailoring the therapy process to fit your goals and needs. The evidence-based therapeutic approaches that I primarily work from are as follows:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Person Centered Therapy
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
